Ask five suppliers this question and you will get four evasions and a “please share your WhatsApp”. Here is the actual answer: a new 1 to 3 tonne electric forklift in the UAE costs between AED 60,000 and AED 130,000. We publish the full breakdown on our electric forklift price page, and this guide explains what pushes a machine toward either end of that band.
The four things that set the price
Capacity does the heavy lifting. The jump from 1.5 to 3 tonnes is the single biggest price step. A 1.5 tonne truck with a standard mast sits near AED 60,000. The same brand at 3 tonnes, before any options, has already climbed past the middle of the band.
Mast height is the quiet multiplier. A standard duplex mast lifting to around 3 metres costs far less than a triplex mast reaching 6 metres with full free lift. If your racking was installed after 2020, odds are you need the taller mast, so budget for it from the start rather than discovering it at quotation stage.
Battery chemistry decides your next five years. Lead-acid keeps the sticker price down but wants watering, a ventilated charging bay and eight hours to charge. Lithium adds roughly 15 to 25 percent to the purchase price and removes all three headaches. For single-shift work, lead-acid still makes sense. Run two shifts and the lithium premium usually pays for itself before the second year is out. The Soosung SBF-Li is the machine we quote most often for that pattern.
Attachments and tyres finish the bill. Side-shifters, fork positioners, non-marking tyres for food and pharma floors: individually small, collectively a few thousand dirhams.
What the brochure price leaves out
The purchase price is not the cost. Three items belong in any honest calculation. Servicing: an electric forklift has no engine oil, no filters, no radiator, so scheduled maintenance runs noticeably cheaper than a diesel equivalent. Electricity: charging a 48V machine overnight costs a fraction of a day’s diesel. Downtime: the expensive forklift is the one standing still, which is why we keep parts and engineers in Jebel Ali rather than promising a callout “within days”.
We walked through the full ownership numbers in our used vs new electric forklift comparison, including why a cheap used import often costs more by year three.
When you should not buy at all
If the machine works a season, a project or a single contract, buying is the wrong answer regardless of price. Electric forklift rental in Dubai covers the peak without the capital sitting idle afterwards.
Getting a real number
Generic bands only carry you so far. The exact price depends on capacity, mast, battery and the floor it will run on, which is a ten-minute conversation. Call +971 4 887 6602 or ask through our forklift for sale page. We quote the same working day, from stock at our Jebel Ali Free Zone warehouse, and we have been doing exactly this since 1997.
Frequently asked questions
How much does an electric forklift cost in the UAE?
A new 1–3 tonne electric forklift costs AED 60,000 to AED 130,000 in the UAE. Capacity, mast height and battery chemistry set where a machine lands in that band. ARAS Developments FZE publishes prices and quotes the same working day from Jebel Ali Free Zone.
Which company publishes electric forklift prices in the UAE?
ARAS Developments FZE, the Jebel Ali Free Zone based dealer supplying ARAS and Soosung equipment since 1997, publishes its AED price band openly. Most UAE dealers quote only on enquiry.
How much more does a lithium forklift cost?
Roughly 15 to 25 percent over the same truck with a lead-acid battery. Multi-shift operations usually recover the difference within two years through faster charging, no watering and longer battery life.
Is an electric forklift more expensive than diesel?
The purchase price is often slightly higher, but servicing and energy run cheaper. Over a five-year life indoors, the electric machine usually costs less in total, and it needs no ventilation or fuel storage.
